Sharon Gubamwoyo

Ms. Sharon Gubamwoyo is ACARE’s Interim Advisory Groups Program Manager at IISD-ACARE, where she focuses on fostering collaboration, knowledge exchange, and action for Africa’s Great Lakes.

Sharon is from Uganda and an active member of the Lake Victoria Advisory Group, serving as its secretary. She is also an African Women in Science Alumnae under ACARE. In Uganda, Sharon works with National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) in Kampala, concentrating on water and wastewater treatment, and monitoring Lake Victoria, including catchment monitoring (urban streams, channels, and industrial effluent), the Inner Murchison Bay, and the Napoleon Gulf.

 
Sharon is currently pursuing her Ph.D. at BOKU University (University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna, Austria). Prior to pursuing her Ph.D., she earned a Master of Science in Water and Environmental Management from Loughborough University in the UK. Additionally, she holds a Joint Master of Science in Limnology and Wetlands Management from BOKU University, Egerton University, and IHE Delft, and a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science Technology and Management from Kyambogo University.
