Ms. Namakau Muyumbana is a Zambian National in the employ of the University of Zambia in the Department of Biological Sciences. She holds a Master of Science (2019) in Limnology and Wetlands Management, which was jointly offered by: IHE-Delft Institute for Water Education, Delft, Netherlands; Egerton University, Kenya; and University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences (BOKU), Vienna, Austria. During her MSc, she assessed the impacts of large dams on dissolved oxygen dynamics downstream of the river.

Namakau’s day to day tasks includes teaching, designing practical work and assessments, and supervising undergraduate student courses in Ecology. As an early career researcher, she is passionate about the conservation of water resources and their biodiversity, and water quality related topics. Namakau generously dedicates her time to ACARE with a view to add to the voice that seeks to strengthen science and positively affect management of the African Great Lakes.

Namakau was a part of the 2021 African Women in Science program.
