PARTNER WITH ACARE
Recognizing that no one organization or institution can address the challenges that our global freshwater resources face, ACARE proactively seeks to build partnerships that leverage the combined skills, assets, technologies and resources of public, private and nonprofit entities to deliver sustainable instruction and research.
Training the next generation of freshwater experts will take a global, collaborative effort. It will require:
Continued, progressive, cutting-edge research to advance the understanding of global freshwater resources, especially on the African Great Lakes, and,
That the knowledge, expertise, and research processes are passed on to future experts.
The benefits of partnering with ACARE go beyond assisting the next generation of experts. Academic institutions and other research organizations will get access to:
Research equipment and facilities on the African Great Lakes
Use of housing and other support services at ACARE facilities
Easy Transfer of credits for students (if partner institution is involved)
Engage with ACARE
Beyond financial support, ACARE is looking to partner with universities, organizations, and individuals willing to dedicate time, expertise, personnel, and research resources. There are a number of ways that partners can engage in ACARE:
ACARE will depend on the top leaders in freshwater sciences to teach academic courses and conduct research-oriented trainings.
Full Semester Instructor Series:
Freshwater experts from around the world are invited to hold courses, labs, and conduct research to teach and train ACARE students. Freshwater experts from partner organizations are encouraged to use ACARE’s network of facilities to hold workshops, courses, or “camps” on Africa’s freshwater challenges.
Special Program Series:
Freshwater experts from around the world are invited to hold lectures, short courses, workshops, and demonstrations that will enhance ACARE’s students ability to address freshwater resource challenges.
Visiting Speaker series:
Freshwater experts from around the world are invited to use ACARE's facilities and partner network to present their work to students and experts alike.
2. Student Exchange Program
The exchange program serves the purpose of exposing freshwater scientists, researchers, and students
to broaden their global views on freshwater resources and the challenges that exist outside of their “own” geographical region.
Partner organizations are encouraged to invite ACARE's students to their institutions to help train and expose them to freshwater challenges in other parts of the world.
Partner organizations are also encouraged to invite students from their institution to partake in the Special Program Series or other activities at ACARE facilities, such as research, trainings, workshops, and courses.
3. Research Exchange Program
From North America, Europe and Asia to Africa
Freshwater experts from partner organizations are encouraged to use ACARE’s network of facilities and equipment to conduct research on Africa’s Great Lakes
From Africa to North America, Europe, and Asia
Freshwater experts from partner organizations are encouraged to use ACARE’s students to engage in research at their home institutions
4. Financial and Research Equipment
ACARE is a non-profit organization that has financial and equipment needs. To train the next generation of freshwater experts, conduct world class research, and coordinate partnerships to facilitate these programs, requires resources from multiple sources. To find out more about ACARE's financial needs, or to become a financial partner, please contact us.
Your organization can recruit the students from ACARE as employees, interns, research technicians, and more. This program is two-fold, allowing your organization to obtain exceptionally talented and highly qualified young women and men who are training to become the next experts in the global freshwater field; and further training these talented individuals to become even more talented.
